Artist Booking FAQs

Dear Artists,

We are so honored that you are interested in exhibiting your work at MOD! Please check out the FAQs below before getting in touch.

Important Notes:

We have discontinued booking photography shows due to our photographer experience with sales not being as strong as we would like to offer.

We are unable to book artists outside of the Houston area.

Our focus is on local artists. Thank you for understanding! 

What is the best way to contact MOD regarding art?

The only way to contact our art coordinator is through the web contact forms and by email. She works off-site and cannot be reached at the shop or by phone.

What dates are available?

Our shows correspond with ArtWalk dates. Our calendar books up fairly quickly each year, but openings occasionally come up, and we are always considering artists for future shows.

What kinds of art do you host?

We are open to diverse styles of art, as long as the themes are family-friendly and neutral (i.e., please no graphic, violent, religious, political, or sexual themes). Our shop is a community space that hosts a diverse group of Galvestonians and visitors.

Additionally, we prefer the artist to be able to fill the space, so a fairly large body of work is encouraged.

How does payment work? Is there a commission?

On opening night during ArtWalk, when the artist must be present from 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM​, you process your own payments (Square sends you a free card reader with signup, so I recommend that) and keep 100% of those sales. After the opening night, our baristas process payment and there is a 25% commission. MOD covers all sales tax. We pay via check.

How does installation work?

The artist brings all materials and supplies needed, such as nails, tools, and labels, and is responsible for installation. MOD provides a step ladder if needed, drinks, and our walls. Installation will need to be completed well within our hours of operation so that we can close on schedule.
